Big Names at the Rox

Some of the biggest names in world comedy have performed at the Rox since we started in 2006.

From America

In 2008 American superstar Chris Rock made a surprise appearance at the Roxbury, much to the delight of Comedy on the Rox regulars.

In 2009 while filming Happy Feet II at Fox studios, Jeff Garcia, the voice of Rinaldo the Penguin, jumped on stage at the Roxbury and did a 30 minute routine.

In 2008 another US big name Eddie Ifft dropped in to try out a new routine.

Shane Mauss was another US top liner to drop in to test his material on an Australian audience.

Comedy on the Rox’s first international headliner was Canadian Steve Patterson in 2007.

Another big name from the America to headline at the Rox was Andrew Norelli in 2009.

 

From Britain

The fabulous Gina Yashere has headlined twice at Comedy on the Rox in 2010 and 2011.

One of the biggest names on British TV Russell Howard previewed his Open House show at Comedy on the Rox in September 2011.

Another regular headliner at Comedy on the Rox from the UK is Alexis Dubus.

Other British big names to have starred at Comedy on the Rox are Alistair Barrie (2008),

Eddy Brimson (2008) and the highly acclaimed  Jeff Green.

The first lady of Australian comedy Julia Morris was a surprise headliner at Comedy on the Rox in 2009.

Star of the Channel 10′s head show The 7pm Project, Kitty Flanagan has headlined twice at Comedy on the Rox.

And completing the holy trinity of Australian remale comedians to have performed at the Rox is the fabulous Fiona O’Loughlin.

TV funnyman Wil Anderson headlined The World’s Funniest Pub special event at the Roxbury in 2010.

The multi-talented Ahn Do headline at the Rox in 2007 and 2008.

And that legend of Australian comedy Austen Tayshus is a reular headliner at Comedy on the Rox.

Bev Killick, star of the world-wide hit stage show Busting Out, performed at the Rox in 2007 and 2008.

Hannah Gadsby, Claire Hooper and Jackie Loeb are other top Australian women

Gen Y favourite Josh Thomas headlined at Comedy on the Rox in 2008.

Australia’s very favourite Wogs Out Of Work and stars of the hilarious stage show Il Dago, Simon Palomares and George Kapinaris have both headlined at The Rox.

Randy the Puppet brought the house down when he hosted a preliminary final of Quest for the Best.

 And Irish-born Dave Callan was a huge hit when he open the 2010 Comedy on the Rox season.

Sydney’s best comedian Tommy Dean is another Rox regular headliner.

Star of Triple J radio Tom Ballard first performed at the Rox as a Warnambool schoolboy and has since returned to headline.

Another comedy legend Anthony Ackroyd headlined Comedy on the Rox’s very first show in 2006.

That brilliant comedy band Axis of Awesome were a huge hit when they headlined at the Rox.

Brisbane’s Lindsay Webb, the man voted the best MC in Australia, is another Comedy on the Rox regular.

TV and radio star Lehmo was another crown favourite.
